HISTORY ASPECTS: The Gloster Meteor F.8 was an advanced version of the Meteor, the first British jet fighter and the only Allied jet aircraft to see combat during World War II. The F.8 saw extensive service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) and several allied air forces during the early stages of the Cold War. The Gloster Meteor FR.9 variant, a reconnaissance version of the F.8, was developed to meet the growing demand for jet-powered aircraft capable of both combat and reconnaissance missions. The FR.9 saw action during the Malayan Emergency in the 1950s, where it performed ground attack and reconnaissance missions against communist insurgents. Additionally, the Meteor F.8 and FR.9 were deployed during the Korean War, though the RAF decided not to send them into direct combat against the MiG-15, a jet superior in performance to the Meteor. I purchased at a decent price and the seller sent as described in good condition, and in a reasonably timely manner, packed acceptably, for a tolerable shipping cost.
