Description
Pitchers with this traditional shape - usually called "Rebekah Jugs" - came in many sizes and have been hand-thrown and hand-glazed by North Carolina potters for decades. It has a multi-colored gloss drip glaze that flows beautifully all over the exterior & interior. It is about 6-1/2 inches tall and 3-3/4 inches in diameter at its widest point. The curved handle is about 1-3/4 inches long and extends about 1-3/8 inches from the body of the pitcher. The base is about 2-1/2 inches in diameter and the top rim with spout is about 1-3/4 inches in diameter. Unfortunately, these pitchers are often found without a potter's mark but I would attribute this to a North Carolina maker. Age is unknown but I have had it for years and it is not new. It is in very good condition with no chips, hairlines, or crazing. Ships USPS. Please look at my ebay store for more North Carolina pottery!
