ANATASE Eureka Quarry, Chalfont, Warrington Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania Many lustrous anatase microcrystals on matrix. They are visible to the naked eye but are best appreciated under the microscope. Anatase is a rare mineral for Pennsylvania, and the Eureka quarry is closed to collecting. This specimen was collected many years ago. The Mines and Minerals of Bucks County (p. 178) has some excellent scanning electron microscope images of anatase crystals from this locality. Specimen measures about 1-1/4 X 1 inches. Mounted in a plastic box.
